We are the Kuhl's
At the start of 2016 we sold or stored all our possession in exchange for adventure. We have been homeless and wandering since, but call Alberta, CAN "home".lifeofkuhl is a creative journey. We share our travel and adventure, but also our thoughts and how adventure and travel impact us on a more personal level. Stepping outside of the the 9-5 was not a difficult decision. Normal life was never really appealing to us. However, we bought into a culture that dictates a patterned, string of events that defines successful living. Go to school, get a degree, get a job, start saving for a future you may never witness, get married, buy a house, get a dog and then have 2 perfect children. Somewhere we got off course and it is the best thing we have ever done for ourselves and our family. Living a life less ordinary is what stirs us. Creatively carving out our own path, writing our own story that engages our children and inspires them to come along.
Mike is a hard core adventurer, the more risk the better. He loves split boarding, skateboarding, climbing, surfing, downhill biking and hiking extreme terrain (he is learning to be ok with just wandering and exploring). He has a crazy sense of humor and an ability to do most anything, well. He refuses to let age slow him down and enjoys cultivating a relationship with discomfort (his words lol). He is an adventurous father and is constantly pushing his kids to move outside their comfort zone.
Tracy spends most of her time trying to keep up with this crew. Her love for adventure runs deep. SUPing, snowboarding, surfing (badly), swimming, skiboarding, biking and hiking are on her list of favorites. She is passionate about writing and always has notes tucked in every pocket. During her down time her favorite place to be is on a beach with an umbrella drink in hand but there is rarely time for that..... Her hope is to get back into climbing and try kite surfing.
Sarah, our first adult child is always up for a good adventure and has def settled into our nomadic lifestyle. She enjoys hiking, SUPing, swimming, skateboarding, skiboarding, skiing (we are still trying to convert her) and horses. She is a creative and her sense of humor exceeds her Dad's. She dispelled every misconception of what a "teen daughter" is. Her dream is to continue to travel as an adult and eventually settle down with a animal rescue shelter.

Samuel is our 11 yo silent wonder, not to be underestimated. He has come out from under his brothers shadow this past year. He is an old soul that perceives and feels deeper than most. He is an artist, skater, snowboarder and mountain biker as well as a new climber. We are grooming him into a hard core hiker...slowly "wink, wink." His dream is to draw for Marvel and travel the world with a cute girl, taking pictures.
